چکیده
Community-based conservation efforts represent an important approach to facilitate the coexistence of people and wildlife. A concern, however, is that these build on existing community structures social norms, which are commonly dominated by men. Some biodiversity approaches may consequently neglect women’s voices deepen inequalities inequities. This paper presents two case studies draw upon knowledge experience gained in our snow leopard practice pastoral agro-pastoral settings Mongolia India better understand roles responsibilities. In settings, responsibilities livestock management agriculture strongly differentiated along gender lines, significant gaps remain decision-making power about natural resources at level. We argue context-specific gender-responsive needed support for actions leverage potential contributions outcomes.

BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major global health problem with survival varying according to stage at diagnosis. The incidence of CRC is much higher in patients with lower bowel symptoms. The symptoms are non-specific and are commonly experienced in the general population. Biological and environmental factors account for the high incidence and poor prognosis of CRC in men. OBJECTIVE...
متن کاملRiver Rehabilitation for Conservation of Fish Biodiversity in Monsoonal Asia
Freshwater biodiversity is under threat worldwide, but the intensity of threat in the Oriental biogeographic region of tropical Asia is exceptional. Asia is the most densely populated region on Earth. Many rivers in that region are grossly polluted, and significant portions of their drainage basins and floodplains have been deforested or otherwise degraded. Flow regulation has been practiced fo...
متن کاملSpecial Section: Balancing Conservation and Development to Preserve China’s Biodiversity Seed plant phylogenetic diversity and species richness in conservation planning within a global biodiversity hotspot in eastern Asia
One of the main goals of conservation biology is to understand the factors shaping variation in biodiversity across the planet. This understanding is critical for conservation planners to be able to develop effective conservation strategies. Although many studies have focused on species richness and the protection of rare and endemic species, less attention has been paid to the protection of th...
متن کاملUnderstanding adaptive capacity and capacity to innovate in social–ecological systems: Applying a gender lens
Development policy increasingly focuses on building capacities to respond to change (adaptation), and to drive change (innovation). Few studies, however, focus specifically on the social and gender differentiation of capacities to adapt and innovate. We address this gap using a qualitative study in three communities in Solomon Islands; a developing country, where rural livelihoods and well-bein...
